Future 40K plans

Okay, so - as Snake said when I was down at the club - I've really been bitten by the 40k bug. Having indulged myself in 40kdom over the last two weeks, I've managed to get it into my head to carry out a few 40k projects. More, by the way, than I could possibly carry out. But, heh, if I've learnt anything doing academia, it's that you should have more projects on the go than you can complete. Try these:

* I want to keep building Hive Fleet Ossuary. I need to build my Tyrannofex and Harpy. And I think I need to buy 9 Lictors and 30 Gargoyles, so I can have a high speed gargoyle army / Lictor based surprise army. (On that note, whilst I'm very happy developing the list that me and Mal worked up 6 months ago I'm tempted, given I'm playing more often, to trial a second army list built along a different central concept in order to make use of some of the models I'm not using. I really want a workable Nidzilla list on the go.)

* When I was down at the LWA, Harry suggested that for his army he was going to build a Looted Wagon for his orks made out of Eldar. I've settled on this being a fantastic idea - so fantastic I'm going to steal it. I've got a few plans for this, but I reckon making those vehicles, and painting them up, would be ace fun. You could even base a list around 3 Looted Vehicles. I could have a Looted Eldar Fire Prism, with a Leman Russ gun, then use the remainder of the Leman Russ for the second vehicle, then scavenge a Necron vehicle for the third. Add in some Mantic orks and you've got an army, but the most fun would be the remodelling of the vehicles.

* I saw the Apocalypse Second Edition. I reckon I can scartchbuild one of the Ork vehicles out of foamcard.

* I've bought a cheap sketchbook from The Works for sketching ideas about what to build. I need to turn back to the scenery as I've still got sheets of foamboard going unused. I plan to build a landing pad, which should be quite easy. And I'm also planning a large fusion vent for an underground fusion reactor, mainly out of foamboard and Glade air freshner. If they go well, I'll turn my hand to an Eldar outpost, although those curves scare me (but it would be nice to paint something as interesting as an Eldar building - I like some of the Eldar paintwork, and see it as a bit more challenging to do.) Although I have to be careful not to build too much, as I've still got the GW scenery to paint (I've nearly finished one building, but have three more to do) and my little hut still remains unpainted (and I look forward to painting 'The Vernon' on the front of it.)

* I bought the Imperial Armour book Volume Four: The Anphelion Project. It's good! I still need to read all the way through it (I'm feeling the urge to finish it off this evening in fact...) But that narrative, and the 'photos' taken in black and white of the models with lights shining at dodgy angles in order to make them look realistic... I could do that. I mean, it'd take a while to write, work up a campaign and build two new armies to play it with, but it'd be nice to make a space marine army to fight the enemies of the Imperium (say, Necrons or Chaos Space Marines.) In the same way that the Red Scorpions look fun and unique, it'd be nice to make my own. In fact, I'm slightly disappointed with Grey Knights in so far as there's no real variation to be had with regards to paint scheme. Having painted the Tyranids the set colours and having to paint the Knights to a set scheme (at least if I want to keep them canonical, which I do), it'd be nice to exercise some creative juices and come up with my own paint scheme. (Actually, if I could go back and redo my Tyranids, which will *never* happen, I'd do them in some funky scheme covered with Tzeentch signs and play them as a Hive Fleet that's been corrupted by chaos and is now run by the Changer of the Ways.) Given the investment, both of time and money, I'm unlikely to do this. Although, when the new 6th edition boxed set comes out I might invest in a set or two so might get my chance then.

* Build a Warhound from weetabix boxes. But I think I should start small (say, with a small fleet of Ork vehicles...)

And, last but not least:

* Update this blog once a week on a regular basis. If I can just play enough I don't think it'll be that hard.
